BIG FUCKING NONO KIDS.

I'm sure this issue has been addressed many times over before, regarding what you say about an artist's work in the comment section. I sincerely apologize if I've done this myself before; i will not do it again. Ever. Because it is such a shitty thing to do.

So, anyway.
It's about saying things like "Wow! Amazing!! This reminds me of [insert popular thing here]" whatever the shit.

now, I'm sure you meant no harm in saying something like this. bUT
consider this:

think before you hit send.

What are you actually complimenting? Are you basically putting down that artist's skill to create original content because it reminds you of a more popular medium that is similarly portrayed?

Sure, I get why it reminds you of whatever because it was blatantly copied and violated copyright laws; fine. That's perfectly reasonable with a fair dose of [insert sarcasm here]

But keep in mind, if it's not fanart you're commenting on, and it's somebody's original work, you cannot just go around beating other people's original creations with "this reminds me of [insert thing that's already popular]!" It makes the artist feel invalidated, as if their original concepts and work isn't even worth mentioning.

In the world of art, things are bound to have their similarities. There's no such thing as a true original creation, it's always influenced by something; whether it be inspired by someone else's work, or something else; whatever.

But that doesn't change the fact that iT IS NOT OKAY to potentially invalidate the original work of artists who probably spent days on a piece, only to have it shot down with "This reminds me of [something that isn't yours, and I'll use that as a reference point insTEAD OF APPRECIATING YOUR ART FOR WHAT IT IS.]"

think before you hit send

and DON'T do this. Words can be poisoning, and can end up opening wounds for more insecurities. Especially for artists who are only just starting to pursue a potential career in art.

Because it's a pretty darn shitty backhanded compliment, if you ask me.

i mean sure you can carry on doing this if you want to. But just remember this; you're a pretty god damn pathetic person if you choose to do this for people's pain, fuckbag.
I bolded it because it's bloody important, and your carelessness is not worth taxing on the mental health of some people who could be very insecure regarding their art. Invalidation can be damaging to some people, and no, don't just tell artists to "aww, but I didn't mean it that way!"

As the saying goes, "When a person tells you that you hurt them, you don't get to decide that you didn't."

ANYWAY, Goodnight everyone I am going to hibernate under a rock for three centuries till humans die out k bye
